Play is a big part of my process. I’m committed to a regular practice of creating things that have no practical purpose. Like all jobs, design can be a grind. I return to the joy of it by letting my mind wander and engaging different parts of my brain in various mediums. Ironically, play has made me better at work: I can make more in less time, I have a folder of ideas ready to go, and I’m able to kill my darlings more easily. These are all products of play as process.
