Context: The folks at Studio Stab approached me about expanding cover art into a social identity and marketing system for their podcast, You Are The Prize.

Approach: The goal was to 1) clarify, expand, and codify the brand, and 2) produce a cohesive suite of assets for the brand across social platforms to create consistency in how episodes are presented. This Figma Brand Library offers a variety of choices, without the decision fatigue, and lets folks use assets as is, edit templates, or use starting blocks to create content from scratch.
Brand Library in Figma: brand guide, social templates, key art,
motion assets, guest notes, components, styles, and variables.

To get from cover art to system, we needed to kick the
tires, find gaps, and figure out how many elements to add.
Finding additional typefaces, framing devices, and colors
was at the top of my list to give us enough depth and variety
to expand across podcast platforms, web, and social.
Early version on the left, final on the right.
Things we tried but didn’t like: colors, tags, frames! We
thought we might need a color system for the episode
info, but we simplified to 3 colors and no tags.
The line is the spine, organizing text and images
into a complex, but resolved, visual hierarchy that gives
elements a home without being the star of the show.
These guest notes weren’t the original scope, but as I was sitting
on set listening to a guest’s questions, I thought some FAQs
and thank you notes could save the hosts from having to
repeat themselves every time.
